Re: Public Safety (Mankato)

I'd like to hear from one or two of the front-line firefighters and several beat-cops. The Free Press seems to keep going back to the same source for information. Let's dig a little deeper, so the people in Kato have an idea of how well the reorganization is really expected to work. How's morale? When I need help with criminal activity, I want the police, when I have a fire I want a firefighter on the scene. I'm not sure how a cop's going to oversee the operations of the firefighters; they're different skill-sets. I'm not questioning the officers' ability, it just seems like an odd fit. Also, who's responsible to ensure the required training is taking place? I assume these professionals must maintain a fairly high level of proficiency in their respective fields. Come-on Free Press you can do better.
